LEWIS CENTER ADDS TWO NEW VIDEO-BASED ADULT CHRISTIAN STUDIES TO WESLEY MINISTRY NETWORK
The Lewis Center for Church Leadership of Wesley Theological Seminary has added The Methodist Class Leader and Be the Welcoming Church to its Wesley Ministry Network series of video-based adult Christian study curriculum. All Wesley Ministry Network resources are appropriate for use in Sunday School classes and small groups.
The Methodist Class Leader is a seven-session study examining the office of Methodist class leader. Class leaders and class meetings were part of the genius of the original Methodist movement. Yet, in many branches of Methodism today, the office no longer exists or has devolved into a merely token role. This study draws on the extensive work of Dr. David Lowes Watson, a leading scholar of Methodist history and an advocate for the revitalization of the office of class leader to provide a more intentional approach to faith formation and accountable discipleship in today’s church.
The Methodist Class Leader regularly sells for $75, but thanks to a generous contribution is it available for $25 for the first 300 purchasers.
Be the Welcoming Church helps churches develop a congregation-wide ethos of hospitality and institute best practices for greeting newcomers, making them feel at home and encouraging them to return. The resource includes dynamic video segments and a Study and Discussion Guide on these subjects: Biblical Hospitality; Seeing your Church through the Eyes of Someone New; Your Welcome Begins Online; How Welcoming is Your Building?; Hospitality is Everybody’s Responsibility; Making Your Worship Visitor-Friendly; and Letting Your Visitors Know You Want to See Them Again.
In addition to Sunday School classes and small groups, Be the Welcoming Church may be used for hospitality training. The resource is available for $99 on digital download and $104 on DVD/CD.
