The Right Question
“Leaders do not need answers. Leaders must have the right questions.”
Good leaders spend much time listening and observing and thus learn a lot about problems and possibilities. The next step too often is telling people “Here is the situation, and this is what we need to do.” A better approach is to say, “Thank you for sharing your time and ideas so generously to help me understand how things are. Now, I need some additional help. I’d like to share what I’m hearing and ask you a few questions.”
