The Right Question
“Leaders do not need answers. Leaders must have the right questions.”
Churches do many good things and tend always to add new things to an already full array of efforts. One way to spark thinking is to ask a group of leaders to assume that each of them has been hired as a consultant for the church. Provide them with a list of all the church’s programs. Ask each of them to answer the question below and then talk about the church programs they chose and what they learned from this exercise.
* Based on our mission and what you know about the effectiveness of our programs to accomplish that mission, which programs would you recommend to 1) continue, 2) stop, or 3) change?

Quotable Leadership
“When it comes to change, churches will always worry more about members they might lose than strangers they might bless.” — Thomas G. Bandy

Why Young Clergy Matter
“Younger clergy aren’t necessarily better. They’re just younger. And that matters.”
Having a proportionate number of young people enter ordained ministry is vital to the vibrancy of the church and its ability to attract younger congregants and form new congregations. To develop the experience in ministry needed for the most challenging assignments, it is essential to have young clergy.
