The Right Question
“Leaders do not need answers. Leaders must have the right questions.”
Co-pastors of a church designing Christmas Eve worship in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic asked members of their Worship Committee to name what had been most meaningful to them about Christmas Eve worship in the past. Recognizing that many traditions would not be possible this year, they changed the tone of the conversation in a way that created genuine excitement. They asked:
* What can we do this year that will be so memorable that people will be talking about it for decades to come?

Quotable Leadership
“The task of leadership during a sustained crisis … is treacherous…. People clamor for direction, while you are faced with a way forward that isn’t at all obvious. Twists and turns are the only certainty. Yet you still have to lead.” — Ronald Heifetz, Alexander Grashow, and Marty Linsky

Read “Take the Next Step: Leading Lasting Change in the Church”
Too often church advocates insist that if genuine change is to occur in the church, then they must throw out everything that has gone before. The problem with such calls for radical change is that they are not true to the way that genuine and lasting change takes place, says author Lovett H. Weems, Jr. In his book Take the Next Step he offers congregational leaders essential insights into how they can work with and through their churches’ ministries to bring about authentic and faithful growth.
