Best Practices in Church Leadership and Administration
The Lewis Center for Church supports a master's level course at Wesley Theological Seminary, "Best Practices in Church Leadership and Administration." Taught by Distinguished Professor of Church Leadership Dr. Lovett H. Weems, Jr., it presents positive models for approaching specific leadership and administration issues typically faced by pastors in the first years of ministry. The emphasis is on local church experience and the constant need to filter that experience through the lenses of vocation, polity, and theological reflection. This three semester-hour course is offered in the fall semester of each year.
Recent students have said the following about "Best Practices in Church Leadership and Administration":
- The sum of this whole semester has been not only a accumulation of knowledge about church leadership but also an energizing conviction that the church is worth leading - that it is of God, the people of God - and that I am called to be part of that mission.
- The class's spiral of energy caught me up within it! I look forward to spinning my own creative energies in new ways that will support the whole people of God as we spiral wider and higher toward God's reign.
