B. Kevin SmallsConnecting with Younger Adults
Leader: Rev. B. Kevin Smalls
The Rev. Kevin Smalls is the Associate Council Director for Young Adult and Campus Ministries for the Baltimore-Washington Conference. Rev. Smalls holds a B.A. from Claflin University in South Carolina and M.Div. from Gammon Theological Seminary in Atlanta. He has served congregations for the past 12 years, most recently Hughes Memorial United Methodist Church in the District of Columbia.

Lew ParksBuilding Self Esteem for Transformation in Small Churches
Leader: Dr. Lew Parks
Dr. Parks is Associate Professor of Theology, Ministry and Congregational Development at Wesley Theological Seminary and director of Wesley’s Doctor of Ministry program. Before joining Wesley’s faculty, he pastored United Methodist churches in the Central Pennsylvania Conference and served as a District Superintendent. Parks received a B.S. from Lock Haven University, an M.Div. from Wesley, and a Ph.D. from Saint Mary’s Seminary and University, Baltimore. He is the co-author with Bruce Birch of Ducking Spears, Dancing Madly: A Biblical Model of Church Leadership (Abingdon: 2004).

Leader: Dr. Scott Kisker
Dr. Scott Kisker is the James Cecil Logan Assistant Professor of Evangelism and Wesley Studies at Wesley Theological Seminary. Dr. Kisker received his B.A. degree from Swarthmore College , he earned an M.Div. from Duke Divinity School , and a Ph.D. from Drew University . He is an ordained Elder in the Iowa Conference of the United Methodist Church .


Kim, Young BongPRAYER - Making Every Ministry a Prayer Ministry
Leader: Dr. Kim, Young Bong
Dr. Kim is Senior Pastor of the Korean United Methodist Church of Greater Washington, located in McLean, Virginia. He has studied at the Methodist Theological Seminary of Korea and the Perkins School of Theology at SMU; he earned a Ph.D. from McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario; and he served as a professor of New Testament Studies for ten years at Hyup Sung University in Suwan, Korea. Dr. Kim has authored several books, including Prayer as Fellowship with God;The Rich Before the Eye of Needle, and The Book of Prayers for Spiritual Formation.

Youtha Hardman-Cromwell

Leader:  Dr. Youtha Hardman-Cromwell
Dr. Hardman-Cromwell is associate professor of the practice of ministry and mission at Wesley Theological Seminary.  She specialized in contextual education and is a director of the seminary's field education program.  She earned her Master of Divinity degree from Howard University and her Ph.D. from American University. 

Eileen GuentherMUSIC - Music as Ministry and Mission
Leader: Dr. Eileen Guenther
Dr. Eileen Guenther is a lecturer in church music at Wesley Theological Seminary and also directs the seminary’s chapel choir. For the past thirty years, she has been on the staff of Foundry United Methodist Church in Washington, DC as minister of music and liturgy. She has an undergraduate degree from the University of Kansas and earned a master of arts and doctor of musical arts from Catholic University.

Both Led by: Dr. Lovett H. Weems, Jr.
Dr. Weems is a respected pastor, educator, author, and researcher. He currently serves as director of the Lewis Center for Church Leadership of Wesley Theological Seminary and as distinguished professor of church leadership at Wesley. Before coming to Wesley in 2003, Dr. Weems served for eighteen years as president of Saint Paul School of Theology in Kansas City, Missouri.


Ann Michel COMMUNICATIONS - Communications Strategies for Fruitful Ministry
STUDY - New Resources for Adult Education
Both Led by: Ann A. Michel
Ms. Michel is associate director of the Lewis Center for Church Leadership. A seminary-educated layperson, she served on the senior staff of Metropolitan Memorial UMC in Washington, DC for eight years and has experience in a wide range of ministries, including communications, missions, and Christian education. She has a degree in communications from the Northwestern University School of Speech and an M.T.S. from Wesley Theological Seminary.
