Doctor of Ministry Degree
"Church Leadership Excellence Track"
The next D.Min track in Church Leadership will begin in May, 2007.
Wesley's Doctor of Ministry Degree program is open to all clergy in active ministry who have a Master of Divinity degree from an institution accredited by the Association of Theological Schools, three years or more of practice in ministry, and a strong record of leadership and previous study. Week-long D. Min. classes are taught during two periods of intensive study scheduled in early January and early May each year. Wesley's D.Min. degree requires the successful completion of thirty hours of course work. It is generally a three-and-a-half year program.
The "Church Leadership Excellence" Track focuses on the personal issues and public practices of those called to lead the church toward the coming reign of God. A serious engagement with contemporary secular leadership studies is held in tension with contemporary theologies of the church. Theologians and biblical scholars dialogue with leaders in the public sector of Washington, DC. Participants assess their leadership histories, styles, strengths and weaknesses and renew their acquaintance with the biblical, theological, and moral foundations that sustain through the tests of leadership. The combined resources of Wesley faculty and the G. Douglass Lewis Center for Church Leadership bring depth and energy to this D.Min. track.
